My 2017 Birthday & Christmas Wishlist

November 29, 2017

I’ve already shared two gift guides so far {cozy gifts under $50 and gifts for the beauty lover}, so today I thought it would be fun to share some of the items on my own wishlist this holiday season. If it was up to me, I wouldn’t make a list at all, but my family likes buying things that they know I will 100% enjoy. To make it easy for them, I start crafting my perfect wishlist in early November.

Let’s take a look, shall we?!

simply nicole 2017 christmas and birthday wishlist

1. Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Circle CardiganSince becoming pregnant, my maternity uniform has become a maternity tank or tee with a regular long cardigan on top. It’s super versatile, I can wear it dressed up or down, and I never get tired of it – which is a huge win. That being said, I’m currently really bored with the cardigans I have in my closet. I’ve been rewearing the same few for months now and just need something new. This one by Barefoot Dreams is at the top of my wishlist because it’s so incredible soft and the color is on point!

2. Free People Lofty V-Neck Sweater: Although I mentioned above that I’ve been loving cardigans lately for the bump, I also love oversized pullovers. I’ve always been a fan of larger sweaters so even some of my non-maternity ones still fit, but not many at the point. I’ve been obsessed with this v-neck one from Free People for months, especially in the wine color. It’s perfect for the fall and winter.

3. Cuyana Travel Case Set: What girl doesn’t need a good travel case for cosmetics? I’ve always used whatever freebie pouch came with my Clinique purchases, but this year I want to step it up a bit. Cuyana is one of my favorite leather goods brands and their travel case set does not disappoint. It comes with two cases – a large one for travel-sized toiletries and a small one for jewelry, makeup or other tiny accessories. I love this set in the stone color because it has a pop of orange!

4. Ray-Ban Original Polarized Aviators: I’ll be the first to admit that I never really understood the hype with polarized sunglasses. I bought Bryan a pair years ago and thought they were just really overpriced. It wasn’t until recently that I decided I seriously needed them for driving. If you don’t already know, polarized glasses reduces glare and eye strain. I personally LOVE love love these gold-rimmed ones from Ray-Ban because they are so classic.

5. Free People Kolby Brushed Scarf: This scarf was on my wishlist last year, so I had to add it again this year. I’m constantly looking for an oversized scarf to throw on over my outfits, and this neutral option from Free People is my all-time favorite. I almost bought it on sale last year after Christmas, but I decided to wait. Of course it ended up selling out and I couldn’t get my hands on one. I’m hoping it ends up under my Christmas tree this holiday season!

6. Tory Burch Parker Envelope Wallet: For the past few years, I’ve been a huge fan of card cases. They are small, convenient and can be transferred to clutch bags with no problem. But I’ve realized that not only is my card case not large enough to hold all of my cards any more, but when I do have cash, I don’t have a place to put it. It ends up being thrown all around my purse, which is a HUGE problem. A long time ago, I had a zip around wallet, so I wanted something a bit different. I added this Tory Burch envelope wallet to my wishlist this year because it’s a practical gift that will last me for years.

7. Cuyana Classic Leather Zipper Tote: Ok, another Cuyana product made the list. This one is a large ZIPPED leather tote. I can’t stress this enough, but I need a tote that zips in my collection. I have a black Rebecca Minkoff work bag that I used for years, but it snapped shut and it would pop open anytime I stuffed it with too many items. I’d feel much safer carrying around a large tote if it had a zipper closure. Ya feel me?

8. Adidas Swift Run Sneaker: I’m in dire need of a new pair of sneakers, which is why I’ve added these Adidas ones to my wishlist this year. I wouldn’t wear these to workout in, since they don’t offer the type of support you’d need for cardio, but I’d wear them on the weekends to run errands. The clear brown/white pair matches practically every outfit you can think of.

9. Ugg Classic Short II Boot: Some people hate Uggs, but if you live in a cold climate like the northeast you learn to love them. I have a pair in black that I wear in the winter while I’m driving, but they are pretty beat up at this point. I’d love to have a pair in Chestnut to wear this year, especially being pregnant. Everyone told me that I’d hate wearing normal shoes towards the end of my pregnancy, and they were right. Most days I slip on my mules from Target, but it’s getting colder and that’s not going to cut it much longer.

10. Aesop Reverence Hand Soap: I heard about this hand soap from my blogger friend Emily. Although it’s pretty pricey for a hand soap, it will last you for months since you don’t need to use a lot of it each time. I’d personally love to get this as a gift this year, because it’s not something I’d typically purchase for myself. It smells like you’re at a spa. I’d be totally selfish and keep it in my master bathroom instead of putting it in our guest bathroom!

11. Pottery Barn Plaid Reactive Glaze Mugs: I’m a huge sucker for festive holiday mugs. Of course when I saw these Denver Plaid ones from Pottery Barn, I knew I had to have them. They are sold separately, but I’d love to have a set of 4. I chose this mug because I love the pattern, but also because it’s a gift that gives back. Pottery Barn is donating 50% of the purchase price to the Give a Little Hope campaign, which benefits organizations that provide temporary and long-term housing for youth and families.

12. Emile Henry Ruffled Pie Dish: The last time I baked a pie, I realized that I didn’t own a nice pie dish. It seems like a staple that you should have in your kitchen. Am I right? I have a clear glass pie dish, but I want something that is decent enough to bring with me when I’m taking a dessert to a dinner party or get-together with friends. I’m obsessed with this white one from Emile Henry. It’s safe to throw in the oven, freezer, broiler, dishwasher and microwave {but why would you do that?}.

13. Le Creuset Signature Cast-Iron Round Dutch Oven: One product I don’t have in my kitchen is a dutch oven. I have large non-stick stock pots, but when I’m making stews, jambalaya or chilis, I’d love to have a cast-iron version. Yes, it’s pricey, but this version from Le Creuset will last forever. I’ll probably pass it down to my daughter when she’s old enough!

14. Yeti Rambler 30oz Tumbler: Yeti bottles get RAVE reviews, because they keep hot beverages hot and cold beverages cold… for a very long time. Since I plan to breastfeed, I’m going to need to stay hydrated. I love this 30oz one from Yeti because I’m obsessed with the sea foam color, and it’s large enough that I won’t need to refill it every hour.

15. Williams Sonoma Goldtouch Madeleine Pan: Almost every time I’m at Starbucks, I buy a package of their madeleine cookies to enjoy alongside my soy chai latte. They are super buttery and delicious and I’m dying to try and replicate the recipe at home. Unfortunately with madeleines, you really need a specific baking pan and I don’t own one. I looked around and this Goldtouch one from Williams Sonoma is the best choice because it’s non-stick and always on sale!

16. Jo Malone London Wild Bluebell Cologne: Bryan bought me a large bottle of Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt cologne last year for Christmas and I use it every single day. Although it’s my signature scent, I want another one to add into the rotation. I had a sample of the Wild Bluebell years ago and fell in love with the scent. Since I’m terrible at describing perfumes, here’s how Jo Malone describes it: Fresh bluebell, radiant lily of the valley and exquisite eglantine, showered with the sparkling succulence of persimmon and lemon. A luminous, imaginative fragrance with a sleek, clean, contemporary edge.

17. Belkin Boost Wireless Charging Pad: I recently purchased an iPhone 8 Plus, which is able to be charged wirelessly. I watched numerous YouTube videos and discovered that a Mophie brand charger would work too, but this Belkin version is large enough to hold the iPhone 8 Plus more comfortably. Plus… the Belkin comes in white, which matches my bedside table and the table in our nursery.

18. Nikon F/1.8 Lens: I use a Nikon to take all of my blog photos, and it works great. However, over time I’ve realized that the stock lens just isn’t cutting it anymore. I think my current lens is has a f-stop of 4.5 which doesn’t do exactly what I need it to. I’m constantly forcing it to have a lower f-stop by zooming in really close, but it just makes my images grainy. If you’re not familiar with photography, a lower f-stop keeps the target in focus and ensures a nice creamy, blurry background.

19. Kindle Paperwhite Cover: I’ve had my Kindle for a few years now and I never had a cover for it. It never leaves my nightstand because I’m terrified that I’m going to scratch the screen or break it all together. One of my resolutions for 2018 is to read more, so I’m definitely going to have to get it some protection!
