37 week bump date

Hi hi. I typically post these bump dates towards the beginning of the week, but this week has been super hectic so I waited until today. I’m actually 37 weeks and 3 days at this point. Getting so close to baby’s due date! Hmm… what should I update you guys on?

Well, during last week’s appointment, I had the Group B Strep {GBS}test done and unfortunately it came back positive. It’s not uncommon {25% of women have it} and there’s not much I need to do differently in regards to pregnancy. The only thing is that I need to head to the hospital as soon as my contractions get close together or if my water breaks. No laboring at home for me. The doctor will start me on antibiotics when I get to the hospital, which will help prevent me from passing GBS onto my daughter during delivery. That’s basically it. Nothing serious.

But other than that, there’s not too much new going on this week. This bump date might be a bit on the shorter side, but I hope you enjoy it anyway. Let’s get into it.

37 WEEK BUMP DATE

Baby is the Size of a: honeydew {approx. 20 inches long, 6 pounds}

Gender: girl

Names: You know by now that we’re keeping it a secret until she’s here. Only a few more weeks!

How I’m Feeling: It seems like everyone I come across is asking me how I’m feeling. It’s hard to give an honest answer without sounding like a complete Debbie Downer. In all honesty, every day is different. This week in particular, I’m having a lot of swelling and stomach aches. I’m staying hydrated and keeping my legs lifted when I can. Even my wrists feel swollen! Also, the extra bump and water weight is starting to take a toll. I’m trying to think positively and remind myself that this is only temporary, and that by the end of this whole thing I’ll have an adorable baby by my side.

This is a super random symptom, but my bump isn’t as hard as in weeks past. It’s kind of squishy. I did some Googling and apparently it’s normal for that to happen during the last few weeks of pregnancy as baby changes position and moves downward.

Recent Purchases: We have almost everything we need for baby girl’s big arrival, but this week we ordered a few more things – a bathtub, a second Hatch Baby Rest {because we’re obsessed with the one we have}, and a standing fan. The fan is a weird purchase, but we don’t have ceiling fans and you need air circulation in the room where baby sleeps.

Cravings: Same stuff from last week, honeycrisp apples and lemonade mixed with water.

Aversions: None.

Sleeping: Sleeping has been fine. I completely lucked out and haven’t had any trouble sleeping throughout my entire pregnancy. I wake up a bunch to use the bathroom, but that’s about it. I’m always able to fall back to sleep. I’ve read in the baby forums that lots of women experience hip pain at night, so I’m grateful that I haven’t experienced that.

Rings: I stopped wearing my wedding ring at the end of last week, and am now wearing a random Pandora ring on my ring finger. It fits much better than my wedding ring and doesn’t annoy me when my hands start to swell mid-day.

Baby Movement: She’s moving around SO much lately. I think it’s because there’s not much room left for her to swim around, so I feel every move she makes. It’s going to be weird once she’s out and I can’t feel her anymore. I’ve talked to other pregnant ladies about this, and apparently it’s a common fear. You go 9+ months carrying around your little one and then all of a sudden she’s out. You’re not physically attached to her any longer, keeping her safe 24/7.

Labor Signs: Braxton Hicks, but no real labor signs. I didn’t get my cervix checked at last week’s doctor appointment, but this week I think I might. My doc said that if I’m feeling a bit different week to week, it’s a good idea to get checked. If I’m not, then there’s no reason to do so.

Looking Forward to: my water breaking. This is weird, I know… but I think I’m just a bit anxious for when/where it will happen. Obviously, I’d prefer it to happen in the middle of the night when I get up to use the bathroom, but who knows.

I was really nervous about my water breaking (just nervous that it would happen at work or in public!) but apparently that’s pretty rare and water breaking only starts labor for about 10% of women

Oh yeah, I’ve heard the same thing. Still nervous haha!
