38 week bump date

Hi hi. Another week, another bump date. In case you were wondering … I’m still pregnant. Overall, I’m doing okay. I can’t wait to meet our little girl and see what she’s like. I know this might seem weird to those of you who aren’t pregnant or who don’t have children, but I’m most excited to see what she looks like and what her personality will be like. Bryan and I have completely different physical characteristics, so it’s a toss up which features she’ll end up getting. Bryan is tall, I’m short. Bryan is blonde, I’m brunette. Bryan has green eyes, I have brown eyes. I’ve done a lot of research about  dominant and recessive genes, but it seems like it’s all up to chance. Leave your guesses in the comments!

If you’ve seen my recent InstaStories, you know that I’ve been using an exercise ball recently. It could be an old wives tale, but it’s supposed to help move baby down into the birth canal and jump start labor. You can also use it during labor to help with back pain and contractions. I’ve been bouncing and doing hip circles on it every night for at least 20 minutes to kick this process into gear! So far, nothing has happened. I’ll keep you posted.

For now, let’s get into this week’s bump date. I wonder how many more of these I’ll have to do?!

38 WEEK BUMP DATE

Baby is the Size of a: spaghetti squash {approx. 20 inches long, 6.5 pounds}

Gender: Little girl.

Names: Can’t wait to share her name with everyone once she’s born!

How I’m Feeling: I’ve gotten to the point of pregnancy when I’m completely ready for her to make her big debut. I’m not always uncomfortable, but I’m just over being pregnant. I can’t wait until I start feeling like myself again and can get back into the gym without worrying about hurting the baby inside of me. Mamas, did you end up feeling this way towards the end of your pregnancy?

I’ve also been feeling a bit anxious lately, which I think it completely normal. My world is about to do a complete 360 degree turn and there’s no real way to prepare for it. My type-A personality just isn’t having it. I’m constantly worried about things like my water breaking, real contractions, delivering this baby, breastfeeding, lack of sleep, etc. There’s no end to the things that I’m worried about. I’m trying to soak in these last couple weeks of pregnancy, but it’s hard.

Recent Purchases: I haven’t made any new baby purchases recently, but we did receive the sweetest package from our friends Mandy and Bill. They sent us some adorable clothes for baby to wear when she’s a bit older.

Cravings: Right now I’m craving food that I can’t wait to have after baby is here, like sushi. I typically only have cooked sushi rolls anyway, but I’ve been cautious since becoming pregnant and have boycotted sushi all together. Other than sushi, I’ve been craving everything sour – lemons, limes, grapefruit, etc.

Aversions: None.

Sleeping: Getting up every few hours to use the bathroom isn’t very fun, but I don’t have any joint pain so I’ll count that as a blessing.

Rings: Just wearing a random Pandora ring at the moment.

Baby Movement: There’s not much space left in my belly, so I only feel baby move a few times each day {usually after I eat or drink something sugary}. When I do feel her though, her punches and kicks are really powerful!

Labor Signs: This might be TMI, but whatever. You’re reading a bump date, so you’re probably interested in reading all about this anyway. This week I had my first internal exam. I’m currently 1 cm dilated and 40% effaced. This doesn’t mean anything really, other than things are moving in the right direction. I could be 1 cm dilated for weeks or I could go from 1 cm to 4 cm in a few hours.

Looking Forward to: go time! Our bags are packed and we’re all ready to go. I spent last weekend steaming the curtains in the nursery, which was one of the last things on my to-do list. There’s really not much else to do, but get this show on the road!

I can’t wait for baby girl to enter this world!

Eek! Us too! Hopefully she makes her arrival soon. Preferably not the night of the super bowl. LOL.
