must read books in 2016

One of my new year’s resolutions last year was to read more books. Although I didn’t read a lot of books last year, I did spend more time reading than spending time surfing the Internet at night. Bryan bought me a Kindle Paperwhite for my birthday and I’m so excited to start using it! It sure will make traveling with books much more convenient. When we took our honeymoon I carried two large books with me because I just had to bring them along.

So today I thought it would be a fun idea to list the books I want to read this year.

books i want to read in 2016

Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

I started reading this book already and am about halfway done. It’s from the author who wrote Gone Girl, so I knew it was going to be good. So far so good! It’s a murder mystery about a woman named Libby Day whose family was murdered when she was a child. She survived the attack and testified that her brother Ben was the killer. Twenty-five years later, she’s introduced to a secret society obsessed with crime cases. They hope to prove that Ben is innocent. As Libby starts searching for answers about her family’s murder, she finds herself back on the run from a killer.

Adventures for Your Soul by Shannon Kaiser

I’m so excited about this book. I’ve seen it all over Instagram lately, so I had to see what all the hype was about. The author was kind enough to send me a copy to read and share on my blog. It gets delivered this week and I cannot wait! The book has 21 emotional explorations to confront the habits that holds people back. The book provides details on how to achieve your goals, remove limiting beliefs, live with purpose and passion and make happiness your natural way of life.

Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert

This book is a New York Times Best Seller written by the author of Eat, Pray, Love. PopSugar commented that it’s “a must read for anyone hoping to live a creative live. I dare you not to be inspired to be brave, to be free, and to be curious.” It’s a great book for all types of people – not just creatives. It aims to infuse more mindfulness, passion, wonder and joy into people’s lives.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

I’m not big on romance novels, but this book received great reviews and there’s a movie coming out this March. According to Amazon, the book is “A Love Story for this generation, Me Before You brings to life two people who couldn’t have less in common—a heartbreakingly romantic novel that asks, What do you do when making the person you love happy also means breaking your own heart?”

books to read in 2016

The Soul Searcher’s Handbook by Emma Mildon

One of my favorite YouTubers mentioned this book and made me very intrigued to learn more. After doing some research, I decided that this book needs to be a part of my life ASAP. It offers tips and tricks on how to incorporate things like dreamology, astrology, crystals and meditation into your every day life. Right up my alley!

Longing for Paris by Sarah Mae

The full title of this book is Longing for Paris: One Woman’s Search for Joy, Beauty, and Adventure – Right Where She Is. Sarah Mae lives in Paris, a place known for its beauty, art and food. The book dives into her journey to discover herself and find a life filled with beauty, adventure and joy right where she is.

Binge by Tyler Oakley

Tyler Oakley is a pop-culture phenomenon, social rights advocate, and a prominent LGBTQ voice on Youtube. In his collection of essays, Oakley talks about his crazy experiences including experiencing a rage blackout in a Cheesecake Factory, negotiating a standoff with a White House official, crashing a car in front of his entire high school while wearing an Arby’s uniform, and much more.

The Honest Life by Jessica Alba

This book has been on my list since it came out in 2013. Jessica Alba talks about strategies for maintaining a clean diet, implementing nontoxic choices at home, and cultivating a daily eco beauty routine. Over the past year or so, I’ve been trying to make out home more eco-friendly, so this book would be perfect for learning more about natural options.

Dark Places is an amazing book! This is such a diverse list. Thanks for sharing with your readers 🙂 I have to recommend “Uncontrolled Spin” by author Jerry Summers (http://www.jerrysummersauthor.com/). The book follows Sean Green and his multi-million dollar marketing business, the budding romance with his newest client Jessica Silva, and the murder of his best friend and mentor. This is a thriller book that really has it all (romance, suspense, in depth characters, and lots of plot twists and turns!) I can’t recommend it enough. It is the first of the series and I can’t wait for the next one! Hope you will check it out! Good luck with your reading New Years Resolution!

I have several books that I am planning on reading. On my Kindle app I have: Growing in Wisdom & Faith by Elizabeth George, The Paid & Published Writer: 13 Stories of Publishing Success, Witches of East End(The Beauchamp Family Book 1), Four Blood Moons: Something is about to Change, and Rattled (A Nicholas Colt Story). I also have Audible on my iphone and ipad with several books to listen to. I am anxious to start Troublemaker by Leah Remini. I am currently listening to The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. I also have on Audible The Melody Lingers on by Mary Higgins Clark and Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline. I am an avid reader and enjoy various types of genre.

Omg troublemaker by Leah remini was SOOO good. I listened to the audiobook and she was the narrator. SOOO GOOD.
