King of Prussia Mall Blogger Preview Event
| August 29th, 2012 | Events, Fashion |
I was invited a few weeks ago to attend the Blogger Preview Event for Fashion’s Night Out. I’ve been to blogger preview events and Fashion’s Night Out at the King of Prussia mall in the past and have always had a blast, so I decided to RSVP yes! Fashion’s night out this year will be September 6—more information will be at the bottom of this post.
*Links to purchase the items I got at the event are below the photos in pink.
This is going to be a long, picture heavy post.
Vera Bradley
Vera Bradley was our first stop and we were welcomed with cupcakes! What a great way to begin the night, right?!
Vera Bradley’s newest patterns for fall were on display: Canyon, Portobello Road and Provençal. They arrive in stores and online on August 30. After we were shown each new pattern, we were surprised with a gift bag with 3 bags with the new patterns!
From top to bottom: Vera in Provençal ($86),
Signature Tote in Canyon ($49), Signature Tote in Portobello Road ($49)
Wolford
Wolford was next. For those of you who have never heard of Wolford (I hadn’t until last night, shh), it is a very high end hosiery and lingerie company.
I was given the WolFord Fatal 50. The PR woman for Wolford was the one that was giving us the tour of the store and she said that these are the tights that Katy Perry wears. So basically, if I wear these I will have legs like Katy Perry. SWEET.
Wolford Fatal 50 Seamless ($48)
Tumi
When I first got the invite and was told we would be stopping at Tumi, I was really excited. I don’t own anything from there, but I’ve always had my eye on their items. I would like (at some point, maybe for a honeymoon) to get really nice luggage. Something that is going to last me a very long time. Tumi has a 5 year warranty and a lifetime repair service. How amazing is that?
The woman from Tumi showed us how this line of luggage and carry on works perfectly for hand-free travel in the airport! The handle of the rolling luggage slips into the tote bag! Everything they had was so innovated. Tumi really thinks of everything.
Also, for those of you who love things monogrammed, Tumi does it for free! Just sayin’.
Tumi leather luggage tag ($30)
BCBG
BCBG was next and the woman who gave us the tour of BCBG was someone I went to high school with! She spoke for a brief time, but allowed us to browse around the store (which I loved) and take a lot of photos on our own.
I had my eye on this little number, which would be perfect for day at work and a night out.
We were given this really soft pinkish lavender tote perfect for an overnight bag. I think I might give this to my sister, because she’ll use it a lot! I can’t find a link to purchase this online, but if you call the store they might be able to help you.
Aveda
Aveda was next! I absolutely love the aesthetics of the Aveda store. It felt like we were in a spa. The scent, the lighting, everything! Aveda’s brand is so great because, now more than 90% of their essential oils and 89% of their raw herbal ingredients are certified organic.
During the store tour we had vegan cupcakes! I’m not vegan, but I’m always interested to taste vegan desserts! Everyone loved them!
From left to right: samples of their hair care lines,
Nourish-mint Rehydrating Glaze ($18), Aveda Hand Relief ($20)
I’ve already used the Hand Relief twice since last night and it smells and feels amazing! According to the website:
“Incredibly rich moisture therapy soothes dry, chapped hands-leaving them noticeably softer and smoother. Hydrating plant emollients, humectants, exfoliating fruit acids and anti-oxidants-including vitamins A and E-help diminish signs of aging and provide optimal relief. Increases moisture levels and elasticity in skin with continued use.”
Yep. Perfect.
Kate Spade
Kate Spade has been a favorite store of mine for quite some time. I always love reading their blog and their products are always so classic. I’m actually in the market for a new wallet, so I was glad I got to check them out in person before hopefully purchasing very soon.
How adorable is this sign by the registers:
Of course I had to take a photo of some of the wallets! I really liked the tufted soft leather online, but I think I might want something with more structure.
When we were leaving Kate Spade, the manager gave us a gorgeous gift bag. Side note: I absolutely love their bags. Not just their purses, but their actual bags when you make a purchase. The red and the pink will be huge this fall.
Gorgeous Kate Spade earrings! Mine were a yellow stone, which I can’t find online, but you can purchase these earrings in other colors on the Kate Spade website. ($38)
Tommy Bahama
Tommy Bahama was our last stop at the event. I honestly never stepped foot into a Tommy Bahama store. I thought that they only sold men’s wear, because I knew that Bry’s dad has a lot of their tops… but I was pleasantly surprised at their women’s line!
The Tommy Bahama store was interesting. It felt very beachy, but not “Hollister-beachy”… more like I’m sitting on my own “private island-beachy.”
I had such a great time at the King of Prussia mall for the Blogger Preview Event for Fashion’s Night Out! I can’t wait until September 6 for Fashion’s Night Out. If you’re in the area, you should come out! It’s going to be a great night. A lot of stores will be offering discounts and gifts with purchase!
There’s even going to be a blogger social media area, so if you’re a local blogger let me know and I’ll give you more information!
The Road to 13.1
Half marathon training Day 3 is today. I’ll be doing my 3 miles after work, because I had a lot to get done this morning… including this post! I hope you all enjoyed and can join me for Fashion’s Night Out King of Prussia.

December Favorites
| December 21st, 2011 | Fashion |
I am a very aesthetic person. I buy things not only for how they work, but also the way they look. Aesthetics play a BIG part in my entire life; from items I buy, things I wear, even the stationery I use. That being said, I’m very picky with things I call my “favorite”. It has to be exceptional for me to mention items on my blog. Thus, here is my list for some of my December favorites.

C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine. I just purchased this the other day from Bath and Body Works, but it’s already a favorite of mine. It’s retails for $7.50 and you can purchase it directly from the C.O. Bigelow website. According to the website, the “mint-infused lip balm provides a glossy high shine with a refreshing cooling sensation. Lips stay moist and protected while peppermint oil gives breath a long-lasting freshness.” Yep, I’d have to agree. The one aspect about this balm that I like better than the Aquaphor is the taste. In my opinion, the Aquaphor lip balm tastes like medicine. C.O. Bigeolow Mentha Lip Shine tastes like toothpaste! Who wouldn’t like that!?
Karen Kane Structured Knit Blazer. I was sent this blazer courtesy of Karen Kane for review. I love this blazer. Not only is it versatile, I can machine wash it. A lot of my Karen Kane clothes have to be sent to the dry cleaners, but I put this in washer on LOW spin and it turned out fine. Note: DO NOT put it in the dryer. I usually set it out on top of the dryer to dry, while I have a load of laundry in the dryer. The heat from the dryer helps it dry a bit faster. You can purchase this blazer for $169 by visiting the Karen Kane website. This blazer is great because I can wear it with jeans and with black work pants. It can go from day to night in a snap!
My Birthday Dress. Sure, I only wore it once… but I know I’ll be taking this dress out of my closet many more times! I picked this up from Target one night and I’m very glad that I did. For under $25 dollars, you can’t beat it! I usually don’t wear blue, but I think it’s growing on me. If you know me well enough, you know that the majority of my wardrobe is black, grey, or beige. I’m slowly working on adding more color to my outfits. This dress pairs well with black tights and black heels, but I plan on wearing it with nude heels in the warmer months as well.
What are you loving this month?
Transferring to WordPress
| October 7th, 2011 | Fashion |
Yesterday was a great day. After Bry got home, we headed over to the mall so I could finally purchase the winter coat that I’d been eying for about a month. *pictures to come soon. While in Gap, I decided to take an outfit of the day photo.
After we got home and ate shrimp pad Thai for dinner (one of my all time favorite dishes!), we hung Halloween lights. BRYAN hung Halloween lights. I took photos of the fall foliage.
Transferring to WordPress
I just wanted to say thank you for everyone who offered me recommendations for my hosting questions last night and this morning. I WILL be transferring my blog over to WordPress within the next week or so. I just want to make sure all of my photos will transfer appropriately. I’ve been wanting to transfer for a while now mainly for the following reason.
- Commenting! I’ve had other healthy living bloggers tell me that they can’t comment on Blogger blogs, and I’ve found that I can’t comment on some WordPress blogs who use outside commenting systems. Basically, I want to be able to chat with other bloggers and have other bloggers comment on my blog easily. That was one of my reasons for blogging anyway.. two-way communication, people!
I’ve read through many helpful transition articles from Blogger to WordPress, and have decided that it was about time I just ripped off the band-aid and did it. I’ve picked a host, and although it is sort of expensive, I do think that the money will pay off.
Shoe Shopping
| September 10th, 2011 | Fashion |
Finally! Yesterday it stopped raining. At around noon, the sun came out and the cloudy skies went away. For lunch, I wanted something a little more healthy than my grilled cheese sandwiches that I’ve had a lot this week. I grabbed some romaine lettuce, feta cheese, Italian salad dressing, corn bread croutons, and celery and mixed it all together.
We had pizza for dinner, but everyone knows what pizza looks like. After dinner, Bry & I headed to the mall around the corner to waste some time before Coldstone. We had to return a pair of Bry’s Mom’s shoes from Macys. Of course I had to try on a few pair. I mean, I DO have a gift card to Nine West that I have to use. Since I wasn’t sure of my size for Nine West, I HAD to try on some heels.
I LOVE two tone shoes, so that second pair with the black and the tan was a hit for me. I ended up walking out of Macy’s with nothing, but at least I know my size now. I’m a size 7, but my left foot is bigger than my right. Of course it has to be difficult.
Earlier yesterday, I was browsing through blogs (I do this on a daily basis, haha), and found Stefanie’s survey post. As I was reading through the questions I thought that it was way to fun not to do it myself! I hope all of you decide to fill out this survey and post it to your blogs!

Fashion’s Night Out
| September 9th, 2011 | Fashion |
Last night was Fashion’s Night Out! I was able to sit front row at the fashion show outside of Nordstrom. Last year I went to Fashion’s Night Out and loved the experience, so I knew I had to come back again this year. Although Bry and I didn’t stay long, we had fun walking around, drinking and eating the food they were serving outside of Lord and Taylor, and seeing fall fashion. Ok, well maybe only I enjoyed that last part.

On LEFT
J Crew Stripe sequin boatneck tee $72
Endless Shoes Frye Emma Leather Lace Flats $98
Banana Republic Large Leather Tote in Cognac $98
OK. So I first saw that JCrew boatneck tee (left photo) in stores a few weeks ago on a mannequin and I FELL IN LOVE with it. I would love to add that staple to my fall wardrobe. Paired with a pair of skinny jeans and flats, or even boyfriend jeans with heels would look amazing!
