Hello readers. I hope you all are enjoying reading “Reconstructing Amelia” or “The Most Beautiful Walk in the World.” I am a little over 70% done “Reconstructing Amelia” and holy cow is it good! I can’t wait to finish it and find out answers to all the questions I have.

Since February is almost here, I wanted to announce the book club details early so you have time to download or purchase the books.  Don’t forget! If you go to www.scribd.com/promo/simplynicole you will get 3 months FREE of unlimited downloads! (I’m not getting paid to mention this, nor am I getting compensated if you sign up.)I figured that you might want to take advantage of this, since the books I chose for February can be downloaded on Scribd!

Last month I couldn’t get myself to finish the first book I recommended for the book club (The Most Beautiful Walk in the World), so moving forward I’m putting out the option of choosing between two books. The books for February are both New York Times Best Sellers – “Beautiful Ruins” by Jess Walter and “Sworn to Silence” by Linda Castillo

First up, here’s a summary from the back cover of “Beautiful Ruins”:

From the moment it opens—on a rocky patch of Italian coastline, circa 1962, when a daydreaming young innkeeper looks out over the water and spies a mysterious woman approaching him on a boat—Jess Walter’s Beautiful Ruins is a dazzling, yet deeply human, roller coaster of a novel. From the lavish set of Cleopatra to the shabby revelry of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, to the back lots of contemporary Hollywood, Beautiful Ruins is gloriously inventive and constantly surprising—a story of flawed yet fascinating people navigating the rocky shores of their lives while clinging to their improbable dreams.

Next up is “Sworn to Silence”:

In Painters Mill, Ohio, the Amish and “English” residents have lived side by side for two centuries. But sixteen years ago, a series of brutal murders shattered the peaceful farming community. A young Amish girl named Kate Burkholder survived the terror of the Slaughterhouse Killer . . . but ultimately decided to leave her community.

A wealth of experience later, Kate has been asked to return to Painters Mill as chief of police. Her Amish roots and big-city law enforcement background make her the perfect candidate. She’s certain she’s come to terms with her past—until the first body is discovered in a snowy field.

Kate vows to stop the killer before he strikes again. But to do so, she must betray both her family and her Amish past—and expose a dark secret that could destroy her.

I’m going to start with “Sworn to Silence,” since I LOVE mystery novels. However since I know that a murder mystery might not be for anyone, feel free to read “Beautiful Ruins.”

Share your thoughts on the books during my Google Hangout! On the last Thursday of the month, Feb 26, I will write a post about my thoughts on the book. Feel free to comment and let me know how you felt about it as well! I’ll also be hosting a Google Hangout at 8pm EST. to discuss the book in more depth. Make sure you are following me on Twitter, because I’ll be posting the link to the Hangout there!
