Friday Favorites

October 5, 2017

I’m so happy it’s Friday. What about you guys? I have a date with Target later {haha!}, so that’s what’s going to get me through my work day. I don’t have a large shopping list, but I definitely need to pick up some maternity t-shirts and long sleeve shirts. I’ve been wearing my maternity tanks to yoga and on the weekends, but I’d like to get some longer sleeve options that I can layer under cardigans for work. If you’re pregnant, let me know what stores/clothing items you personally like. I feel like there’s not much out there. Everything pretty much looks the same, so I’d love to jazz it up a bit.

I’ve got a few products this week that I’m dying to share with you, so let’s get into my Friday Favorites!

1. Breakfast Bars

Ok, so you may remember my post all about how I feel about breakfast bars. Basically, I’m picky as hell. So many bars on the market are gritty and taste like cardboard, but I’ve found a new favorite to add to my pantry. I was recently shopping at Giant, and they were sampling strawberry flavored Nature’s Bakery Organic Honey and Oat Bars. Being pregnant, I can’t say no to food, so of course I had to give it a try. OMG you guys, you need to run out and buy these ASAP or place an order on Amazon. They kind of remind me of Nutrigrain bars, but without all the nasty chemicals. These ones are dairy free, GMO free, and have no high fructose corn syrup. Plus, they are freaking delicious… so, that’s a win in my book. I’ve had one for a mid-morning snack every day this week.

2. American Horror Story

I have a love/hate relationship with American Horror Story. {don’t worry, no spoilers!} Aside from the first two seasons, I feel like I always watch the first couple of episodes and then lose interest. The preview for AHS Cult drew me in, and I’m happy to report that I’ve watched all the episodes thus far. Sarah Poulson’s character is beyond annoying, but other than that I feel intrigued to keep watching. I’m not too sure where they are taking the plot line, or what crazy twist they could develop, but I definitely want to learn more. My theory is that Sarah Poulson is actually the cult leader. How crazy would that be?! Are you guys watching AHS this season? If so, what do you think?

3. Ovia Pregnancy App

On the day I found out I was pregnant, I downloaded a BUNCH of pregnancy apps. Some of them were better than others, but today I want to share with you the one I’ve used time and time again over the last five months. It’s called Ovia. No this isn’t sponsored. I found it because I was already using and loving their fertility app, so I figured I’d give their pregnancy one a try. Basically, you plug in your due date and it helps you keep track of your pregnancy by week, tells you how big baby is, and gives you short articles to read every day. I use this app frequently, but specifically on Mondays when I read our update for the week to Bryan. I actually look forward to it! The app also has some great resources that I used in the beginning of my pregnancy, such as a food safety database and a medication safety database. Both of which are so valuable when you’re new to this whole thing and trying to navigate what you can and cannot have. Go check it out – it’s free!

4. Evernote

I hope I’ve mentioned Evernote before, because it’s seriously a game changer for keeping myself organized {plus, it’s absolutely FREE}. I’ll probably do a whole post about side hustle organization, but for now I’ll just highlight this app. Ok, so Evernote is my all time favorite place to organize my to-do lists for my blog. I have lists for post ideas, companies I want to pitch, photos I want to take, products I want to try, etc. Since I work outside of my house, I love that I can access my lists anywhere, anytime – on my phone via the Evernote app, at home on my laptop, and even at work on my desktop. How do I use it? Well, at the start of every month, I go through my post list in Evernote and schedule in iCal when I want to write about each topic. I have all of my blog post titles and tasks color-coded in my calendar, so I can quickly find them at a glance.
