TGIF! If you live in the northeast, you’re probably getting ready for this crazy snowstorm we’re supposed to get. I secretly hope we get snowed in on Saturday, because all I want to do is watch movies, cuddle with Bryan and Pete, and catch up on some reading. But for now, we just have to wait and see.

Let’s get into my Friday Favorites for this week!

tabouli

1. Trader Joes Tabouli

I’ve gone to Trader Joes more times than I can count, and even did a post about my favorite goodies there. This week I tried their tabouli and my life was changed. Please tell me this is new, because I feel like I’ve been MISSING OUT. Tabouli is an Arabian vegetarian dish made of tomatoes, mint, parsley, bulgur, onion, olive oil, lemon juice and salt. I’ve tried making my own at home, but it didn’t turn out nearly as good as the Trader Joes version. Let’s take a quick look at the nutritional benefits of the ingredients:

  • Bulgur is high in fiber and protein and contains potassium and iron.
  • Onions are anti-inflammatory and can prevent cardiovascular disease.
  • Tomatoes are great sources for vitamins A, C, K, folate and potassium, and can help regulate blood sugar.
  • Mint helps with indigestion, headaches, respiratory problems and much more. I’m a HUGE mint fan.
  • Parsley is filled with vitamin C, 3x as much as oranges.
  • Lemon juice helps fight off infections and fevers, and aids in digestion.

2. Making the News

I mentioned in Wednesday’s post that I was recently featured online in my local newspaper’s business section. Well, on Tuesday the article ran in print. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to find the article, but when I opened up the newspaper at Wawa I laughed so hard. My article took up so much space and continued onto a second page. The photo ended up being massive. LOL. This month has been very successful blog-wise {Kaitlyn Bristowe interview, now this!}. I can’t wait to see what else 2016 brings.

3. The Soul Searcher’s Handbook

Right now I’m obsessed with the book, The Soul Searcher’s Handbook. I’ve been reading it every night before bed. The author, Emma Mildon, does a great job outlining many different aspects of spirituality – crystals, yoga, aromatherapy, mantras, and much more. Think of it as a guidebook for beginners looking to better their holistic and spiritual health. I need to pick up a notebook this week so I can start taking notes. There’s so much info I can’t wait to share with you all!

4. A Sleeping Pup

Pete is almost always mentioned in my Friday Favorites. Are you really surprised? This little bug was so cute this week. Since it’s been really cold, he’s been extra cuddly. In the mornings, he actually cries because he wants to get back into bed. Luckily for him, this weekend looks like it will probably be spent mostly hanging out at home.
