New PDR

Yes.  I  hit a new personal distance record (PDR)!  It was a goal of mine back in May to do a 5 mile run on the treadmill.  After staying up late on Sunday night watching 3 hours of Bachelorette, I was not in any shape to get up early to run on Monday morning. I went to the gym after work instead.

It took some time, but I finally accomplished it! I hopped off the treadmill a few times to try and get rid of my side stitch, but at least I did it.

Pre-run:

  • wore my Pro Compression running socks to bed Sunday night
  • ate a lot of carbohydrates on Monday
  • last snack was around 3pm. — next time I’ll eat my last snack before running around 1 or 2.

Mile 1:  wasn’t too bad I decided that the One Direction Pandora station was my music choice for the day.  I started around 9:50 and kept that pace for the majority of the miles.  My goal was to do 5 mi, and I knew I would do it if I just slowed the pace down.

Mile 2-3:  I don’t remember miles 2 and 3.  I was in the zone.  I do remember that during this time it started to rain outside– pretty to look at during my indoor run.

Mile 4:  My side stitch really started to hurt.  Had to take a few breaks during mile 4 to really massage out the cramp.

Mile 5:  I picked up the pace for the 5th mi to about 8:30.

My walk home in the rain was super muggy and sweaty!

What has been your recent PDR?

Great job! It’s always nice to get in the running zone where you just go and nothing distracts you. My most recent PDR was 16 miles. I’ve got more to do since I’m training for my first marathon!

I’m working towards a PDR of a half marathon. Eventually I’ll get there. :) And also, a One Direction pandora station sounds like it would have the perfect amount of energy to get through a run. I really need an iPhone. Haha.

Congrats Nicole!! That’s going to take quite the bite out of your 15 miles for the week! :)

PS. Love that you can’t remember miles 2-3 … hitting that “zone” is seriously the BEST!!
