I generally don’t write posts highlighting one company, but the quality of the product and the customer service were too great not to share with my readers. Pete is a smooth (short) haired dachshund and he hates being cold. I’m not making this up. He shivers and whines if it’s colder than 60 degrees outside! Getting him a fleece jacket for the fall was important, so when The Cozy Hound wanted to send Pete one I couldn’t say no.

Since dachshunds are so long, it’s difficult to find clothing that fits them from a normal pet store like Petco or PetSmart. In my opinion, custom-made is the way to go if you want to ensure a perfect fit. I emailed The Cozy Hound Pete’s back, chest and neck measurements as well as the fabric I wanted. I chose one of the new plaid patterns for 2014. I love how festive it looks!

Many of the coats in-stores only have a hole for the collar, but this coat has a harness buttonhole on the back. We always put Pete in his harness for walks because of his long body, so the buttonhole on this jacket was a very important feature. The coat fits right over his harness without a problem.

Bryan and I also love how easy it is to put the coat on Pete. When Pete has to go out, he has to go right away! We don’t have time to fuss with zippers or buttons. There are two Velcro straps – one under his neck and the other under his belly. In just a few seconds, we have the coat on Pete and we’re ready to go!

If you’re interested in purchasing one of these coats, the wonderful team at The Cozy Hound is offering Simply Nicole readers 15% off! When you email them, just mention that you read about the company from my blog and they will honor the discount.  They specialize in fleece dog coats, but can also make them from denim, wool, corduroy, sweatshirt, and water resistant materials.
