Weekend Recap (10/26- 10/28)

This weekend Bryan and I celebrated our three year anniversary, and I decided to make it a whole weekend full of festivities.  Here’s how the weekend went down.

Friday

By the time Friday’s work day was over, I was ready to head to Whole Foods to pick up essentials for Game Night.  I purchased a baguette from Whole Foods and when I drove home, it smelled like a French bakery.  Not complaining!

On the menu for the night were easy and simple items:

  • Goat Cheese and Pear Crostini (with honey drizzle)
  • Lime tortilla chips with salsa
  • Carrots, cucumbers, pita, and hummus
  • My favorite cheese – pepper jack
  • Pumpkin beer from Whole Foods

We had our friends, Jim and Leslee, over to play games, enjoy pumpkin beer and chat about life.  I only had about half a glass of beer, because I over did it on the food and was too full to keep drinking.

Saturday

Saturday was the day that Bry and I decided to really celebrate our anniversary.  Technically our anniversary wasn’t until Sunday, but we wanted to do dinner and Saturday seemed like the best idea.  Good thing we made reservations for Saturday, because Hurricane Sandy was on it’s way!

Saturday morning, Bry and I went to one of my favorite places – Linvilla Orchards.  I’ve gone every fall for Pumpkinland since college and it’s become a tradition.

It was pretty chilly and overcast, but we had a great time picking out our almost 30 pound pumpkin!  It took me probably 20 minutes to pick the best one, because who wants a lumpy and bruised pumpkin?!

That pumpkin was heavier than it looks!  IDK how Bryan carried it with one arm.  Just another reason why I love him Smile

We also got hot apple cider (one of my fall favorites) and saw the animals!  Goats, cows, and chickens!

After having a great time at Linvilla Orchards, we drove home and relaxed before getting ready for dinner.  We had reservations at XIX Nineteen which is on the top of the Hyatt in Philadelphia.  I didn’t take any photos of us beforehand or at the restaurant, because we didn’t have a spectacular experience.  I don’t want to go into it on the blog, because I tend to keep things around here pretty positive, but if you want to read my full review… check it out on .

When we got home, I gave Bryan his card with a gift card/Groupon for a restaurant nearby and we just relaxed the rest of the night.

Sunday

I slept in on Sunday morning until 10am!  WOO.  I finally felt refreshed when I woke up.  Bry and I had breakfast and then went to run errands at a farmer’s market, CVS, and our grocery store.  You’d think the world was ending, because of all the people at the grocery store.  I’m able to go into work later in the morning Monday, because of Hurricane Sandy so I’m not complaining.

We were able to leave when we came across one of those height things.  You know what I’m talking about…

Yes, this is probably for children.  No, we really didn’t care.  By the way… I’m wearing this AMAZING jacket from FreeMotion.  I received it from the company during the Runner’s World Half Festival.  A full review of other clothing items I got will be this week!

After running our errands, we went to the gym and I watched my new favorite show, Married With Jonas.  You know… that reality show with one of the Jonas Brothers.

Oh.. and I also did four miles on treadmill.  I would have done more, but I REALLY need to get a knee brace.  Any suggestions?

Talk to Me

  • What knee brace do you use?  Where did you purchase it?
  • What is your favorite restaurant for date nights?
  • Is your area going to be hit by Hurricane Sandy? Be safe everyone!

Omg I love Married to Jonas! I just finished the last episode and am so sad it’s over. He’s a really nice guy and I love her and her family, they’re so funny and real! Also great pumpkin choice and you two are such a cute couple!

i used to do a knee brace when i was younger, but realized over the years it was like putting a band aid on my finger when I cut my toe. 🙂 I would see if you can hit up an exercise physiologist they might show that really your stride is off or you just have a tight hamstring pulling on your knee

When I first started training for my marathon, I had the WORST knee pain. I even had to sit out for 2 weeks to recover. I meant to do some research in what kind of knee brace to get, but I forgot and ended up at Sports Authority right before a run and got the LP Patella Knee Brace. It actually has worked really well! Good Luck and Be safe today!

Thanks for the insight. I’ve never had to use a brace before but recently my left knee has been hurting SO SO bad.

Be safe today as well!

Do you think it’s too late to go pumpkin picking after halloween?! It’s still on my list of to-dos!

No way! pumpkins are around Thanksgiving too! I say go for it!

Oh mann can we trade weekends?? THis looks like fall perfection.

LOL It was a pretty great time. I can’t wait until next weekend already. I wish the world was full of just weekends 🙂

I have a few things I want to comment on! 🙂
1) Goat cheese + pear crostini sounds amazing.
2) I’m not a beer drinker but I looove pumpkin beer.
3) I’ve never been to Linvilla Orchards but it looks adorable so I guess I should go!
4) Be safe today/tomorrow!

Hey Erika. YES the goat cheese + pear crostini was amazing. I’m already planning on making it again.

I’m home today, because my office is closed. I’ll be working from home though, so not a full day off 🙂

Is your area getting hit hard today?

**knocks wood**
my knee is/are the one thing which is FAB these days.
and Im sending my thoughts and PRAYERS to everyone in the path o’Sandy.

Did you wear a knee brace when you did have knee pain? I’d love your input on a good brace!
