Weekend Recap (10/8- 10/9)

December 10, 2012

Well it’s Monday morning again, folks.  Instead of saying how bummed I am that I didn’t get to sleep a lot this weekend, I did a lot of cool things and will be catching up on sleep this week.

Saturday

My alarm went off early on Saturday morning because Bryan and I had to take his grandmother to the dentist.  Luckily, the appointment was very short and we were on our way to breakfast before we knew it.

On Saturday night, Bryan and I went to the Smashing Pumpkins concert with two of our friends.  I always associated the Smashing Pumpkins as being a 90s band and even in the 90s didn’t really listen to them.  The concert may have been better if smoke wasn’t being blown in my face the entire time and if we could actually hear the words the singer was singing.

We left the concert around 11PM after we heard the only song we all knew.  On the way home, we all stopped at Popeye’s Chicken.  I didn’t get anything, because (1) I don’t eat chicken and (2) I was WAY too tired to eat a full meal at midnight.  Overall the night was a lot of fun!

Sunday

On Sunday morning Bryan and I didn’t get to sleep in either.  We woke up bright and early and drove down to his parents’ house to go Christmas tree shopping.  After a delicious breakfast at iHop, it unfortunately started raining.  Instead of going to the tree farm, we thought that a trip to Lowes would be just as festive – we were wrong.  After about 5 minutes of walking around the dreary Lowes Christmas tree section, we braved the rain and drove to the tree farm.

It wasn’t raining too hard and I had my umbrella, so the experience was just as fun as other years.  It was A LOT better than Lowes.  After walking around for a while, Bryan and I spotted the perfect tree for our place.  It’s around 7 feet and just wide enough to fit in the space near the kitchen.

I saved a piece of the trunk and I’ll be doing a DIY project very soon – more to come on that project.  Once everyone found their perfect tree, we loaded them onto the truck and went back to Bryan’s parents’ house.  I was able to open my birthday present early from his parents because I wouldn’t see them on my birthday.  It was such a surprise and very exciting!  I got the Victoria Secret PJs that I had been eying for months now!  Thank you thank you!

After coming home and setting up the tree, Bryan had plans with a friend and I wanted to get over to Barnes and Noble, so we didn’t decorate the tree right away.  I had plans to go to Barnes and Noble all week, but never got the chance so I was very excited to finally pick up these amazing items:

  • Easy Wedding Planning Plus
  • The Knot Book of Wedding Lists
  • The Knot Pennsylvania and Delaware magazine
  • Pilot v5 super fine black pens for wedding planning Smile

I spent about an hour or so flipping through the books until Bryan called and said we were all going to a bar/restaurant nearby for dinner.  Bryan, myself, and Bryan’s friend all had a great dinner and Miller Light beer tower!  I could only drink about half a glass, but the guys enjoyed themselves!

Now my friends, it’s Monday.

Talk to Me

  • What did you do this weekend?
  • What color are the lights on your Christmas tree?
  • Are you done Christmas/holiday shopping?

I worked this weekend, and spent time with my boyfriend. We decorated our Christmas tree and our living room. We have colored lights. White lights are very pretty but colored lights are more fun, in my opinion. And I’m not sure if anyone will be getting anything from me for Christmas this year, unfortunately. I absolutely LOVE giving gifts, but I lost my job in September and I’m working at a restaurant while I take classes to get my real estate license so money is kinda tight. Makes me sad.

So sorry to hear that Alison. The holidays aren’t always about presents, though. Try and enjoy time spent with your loved ones and it may make you feel better 🙂

Wedding books and magazines are SO FUN!!! You’re making me miss wedding planning. 🙂

It barely even started and I’m already going nuts lol. I love it though! Real planning will start after the holidays – right now I’m trying to research venues I like.

they are blue, yellow, green, and red!
almost done!!
i nominated you for the lieber award!!

Thank you! I’ll have to answer the questions this week 🙂

I’m getting excited seeing those wedding planning books! 🙂 And don’t worry about your Xmas tree, ours has had only the lights on for a week now, we just haven’t gotten around to doing all the ornaments.

Wedding planning is a lot of fun. I’ve barely started though. We figured that we’d wait until after the holidays and just enjoy being engaged for a few weeks. LOL

yay for all of the wedding books/magazines! (:

I love them. I know I’ll be buying a LOT more!

We celebrated Hanukkah this weekend BUT IM STILL SO IN for your DIY project 🙂
