Weekend Recap (7/26- 7/28)

Good morning!  It’s not raining this morning, so that’s always a good thing to start off the work week.  Yesterday, it thunderstormed for the majority of the day, which made it a great day for TV watching, but a crappy day for the pool.

Here’s what I did this weekend!

Friday

After work on Friday, I came home and went to the pool.  I haven’t done that in a while, so it was definitely nice to unwind and just relax after a long work week.  It was a perfect afternoon at the pool.  Since I get out of work around 3-4 on Fridays, I knew one of these days I’d have to make my way over to the pool.  Last Friday was the perfect day to do so!  I was pleasantly surprised at how empty the pool was.  No kids screaming and running around and only a handful of adults who were relaxing just like I was.

I posted the photo below on my Instagram account wondering what this type of tree was.  I am so happy that someone answered, because now when I have a house of my own, I know that I need to have these trees in my backyard: Crape Myrtle!

After we left the pool, we came home, made dinner, and spent the night watching TV and relaxing on our deck.  Around 10PM, Bryan got the craving to try out this cheesesteak place he’d never been to, so we drove over there.  Bryan said it was delicious, so that’s all that matters.

Saturday

On Saturday, we slept in a bit and had breakfast in bed before heading over to the pool for a few hours.  It wasn’t the most sunny morning, but it was nice to just lay by the pool and read the new e-book I downloaded, Wish I Knew, by Jess Lively.

On Saturday night, Bryan, Leslee’s bf, and I went out to see my friend Neil’s band, Field of Play, perform in Media, PA.  It was a great night for a concert in the park.  I haven’t seen them perform in a few months, so it was nice to go.  There were a lot of kids running around, so they had to censor some of the songs on their line up – such as “F*ck You” by Cee Lo Green, which became “Forget You” (the radio version).

excuse the blurry iPhone photo!

After the concert, we went back to Leslee’s bf’s apartment and watched Blue Mountain State.  It’s a pretty vulgar show, so if you’re not into college humor, I’d say don’t watch it.  We didn’t get home until really late, so waking up early on Sunday was pretty difficult.

Sunday

On Sunday, we had to wake up early and meet with our florist.  The florist we’re going with is a division of our caterer, so it’s making things super easy.  We met him at Aldie Mansion in Doylestown, PA, where they were hosting a tasting for potential clients.  It was nice to sit down with the florist and go through all the elements of our wedding needing flowers.  I made sure to tell him our budget up front, so we made adjustments here and there to stay as close to our budget as possible.  For instance, we’ll be repurposing our bridesmaids bouquets as centerpieces for our head table, and using baby breath as fillers where possible.  I took some pictures of the items they had set up.

I really liked this set up, but I’m sure renting all of these items would be pretty pricey.  I’m pretty sure I know what we’re going to do for our centerpieces, but I don’t want to reveal here on the blog until after the wedding or at least until everything is finalized.

I will tell you however, that I’ll be having a bouquet of all light pink peonies (or garden roses, which ever we can get next May).  In the arrangement above, there are dark, light and white peonies.  My bouquet will have all of the lighter pink color.  The bridesmaids will have bouquets of baby breath and white peonies.

After our meeting with the florist, we came home and napped for almost three hours!  We were exhausted!  On Sunday night, we watched my favorite shows as usual – Big Brother and The Killing.  Pretty standard Sunday night.

Hydrangeas are my favorite flower and that’s exactly what we had at our wedding! 🙂 BUT we kept it simple… we definitely didn’t spend the bulk of our budget on flowers.
