Weekend Recap

Happy Monday, readers! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I know I sure did.

On the Fourth of July, it rained a bit in the morning, so a pool day wasn’t an option. We headed over to the Elmwood Park Zoo instead. I put on my trusty Converse sneakers , which may be the most versatile shoes I own. I can wear them in the fall with jeans and a sweater or in the summer with shorts and a tank. The zoo doesn’t have too many animals, but it was nice to walk around for a little bit. Every one there was in the holiday spirit and was wearing some sort of red, white and blue.

Weekend Recap

After the zoo, we watched TV and relaxed on the couch until it was time for fireworks! We went to the same park that we go to every year. This year was even more crowded and even had a carnival, so we were glad we left early to find parking. Most people arrived right before the fireworks began, so we were able to get a great seat in the field. Before the fireworks started, we listened to a live band and ate funnel cake and fried Oreos (the best/worst food you could put into your body). I personally enjoyed the festive music,  including “Firework” by Katy Perry, “She was an American Girl” by Tom Petty and “Born in the USA” by Bruce Springsteen. In my opinion, this year’s event had better fireworks and music than years past!

The rest of the weekend was spent watching Netflix, laying by the pool, cleaning the apartment, running errands and having dinner at the in-laws’ house. We also realized that we have a leak in our guest bathroom and water is dripping from the ceiling. Let’s hope that gets fixed today!

Looks like a great weekend! The rain kind of made us just want to hang inside and eat pizza so that’s mostly what we did on the 4th haha. However, it was probably that rain that cooled off the rest of the weekend and we spent it kayaking and hiking! My week may also include the elmwood zoo! The family I nanny for has a membership and live close by so we go when we can.

Bridg, pizza and hanging out inside always is a good idea. Pizza might be on our menu this week now that you mentioned it! LOL.

Love the new look of the blog!! And seriously love that first picture! I don’t what it is, but I just absolutely love it. Yum Funnel Cakes, such a great indulgence. I didn’t do anything for 4th of July. I was babysitting someones dogs and doing homework, so that was exciting haha.

Thanks so much, Chelsea!
