Elizabeth Johns Ardmore Review

Now that my dress was ordered, the next thing on my wedding to-do list was to find the perfect bridesmaid dress.  However, in my case it was actually a series of dresses, but more on that later.

Since I didn’t expect my bridesmaids to travel all the way to NYC to buy their dresses like I did, I wanted to find a local bridal salon that lived up to my standards.  I wanted a high end salon with affordable options.  When I researched different salons in my area, one definitely stood out – Elizabeth Johns in Ardmore.

On Sunday, I met my bridesmaids at the salon and was shocked that the store was actually more gorgeous than the photos!

When we walked in, we were greeted by a few members of the sales team and was told that our consultant Pat was waiting for us downstairs.  The downstairs area was just as gorgeous as the main bridal floor.  I was introduced to Pat and was glad to hear that her daughter actually just got married a week ago so she was up to date on the newest styles of dresses. We talked for a few minutes about what I was looking for, the color that I wanted to use and what styles I definitely didn’t want.

Since I have six bridesmaids, I knew from the very beginning that I didn’t want them all wearing the same exact dress.  For one, I don’t want them looking like clones of each other and two, I know that no one dress could flatter every bridesmaid.  I want my ladies to look fabulous and be comfortable!

I did some research before I got to the salon and had in mind three dresses from Donna Morgan, all in a blush pink.  When I got to the salon, the Donna Morgan dresses didn’t work out.  Since the salon only had a few long Donna Morgan dresses as samples, I knew I didn’t feel comfortable ordering long dresses for the girls without them physically trying them on; especially because there really wasn’t a third dress that worked in stock.

I was a bit disappointed, but Pat assured me that we would find something even better.  We decided to take a look at another designer – Alvina Valenta.  Alvina’s dresses are similar to Donna Morgan’s in that there were various styles to choose from in the same color.

I knew from the start that I wanted three long styles: strapless, something with straps, and a one shoulder.  Luckily, Alvina Valenta had the perfect three!  I decided on the three long dresses in the photo above.  All the dresses will be made in the blush pink color on the right in silk chiffon.  Two girls will wear the strapless, two will wear the one shoulder and two will wear the strapped.

Here are the details:

  • The green dress: we’ll be taking some of the detailing from the shoulder off.  It’s too busy as is.  It has roses and fabric draping.  I think we’ll be removing the flowers.
  • The purple dress – looks great as is
  • The blue dress – does not come with the flower detailing

Since the photo above does not do it justice, here are the manufacturer’s photos.

After we picked the dresses, we decided collaboratively who would be wearing which.  Luckily for me, all of the girls were very happy with the dress they ended up with.  Once that big decision was made, Pat opened up the bottle of champagne that I brought and we toasted to finding gorgeous dresses!

Pat measured each of the girls and afterwards sat down with each of them individually to go over the contract and payment.  That process took about 30 minutes in total, but I was occupied by talking about the bachelorette party and looking at sparkly party dresses.

Love the dresses you picked out!! I can’t wait to see them in the blush pink. And that Chandelier?? Way too gorgeous. Well since I’m not married yet, and am not planning a wedding since I’m not engaged either haha I will answer the last question. My favorite Fall show….Hmmmm, it’s stuck between a couple. Hart of Dixie, Vampire Diaries, The Mindy Project, and Survivor. I don’t think I could go without any of these. Have a great day 🙂
