Self-Love, Green Smoothies & Staying Balanced with Marissa Lace

Good morning! Since so many of you loved the last interview I did with Carla Marie, I thought I’d do another one today. 

I’m chatting with Marissa Lace. She’s a YouTuber who loves meditation, yoga, self-growth books, and eating healthy. Uhm… right up my alley! We have so much in common, it’s insane. Her videos are full of positivity, you’ve got to go watch them. I won’t let this intro be paragraphs long, so lets get into the interview!

Hey Marissa! Introduce yourself to my readers. 

I’m Marissa! I have a Youtube channel called MarissaLace all about living a balanced lifestyle. Everything from self love, healthy food, dating advice, daily motivation, beauty, and my daily shenanigans. 

What are your go-to tips and tricks for staying healthy?

My go to tips for staying healthy are simple. So simple its annoying. Listen to your body. The moment you put too much stress on yourself to lose weight or restrict yourself that negative energy is in your body. Life is about balance.

My current health/fitness routine is very focused around loving myself. I focus on just moving more whether I’m just walking my dogs, going on a hike, taking the stairs (I live on the 6th floor), yoga, or just doing an at home workout video.

Regarding food, I just try and put the best things possible in my body. Im a huge fan of green smoothies and I’m currently doing a 30 day vegan challenge.

What’s your favorite workout routine?

With workout routines, I want people to know that you don’t need a STRICT intense routine. Girl just MOVE 3-5x a week! I’m really into yoga and pilates at the moment. Any movement is better than sitting on the couch.

What’s your go to favorite healthy breakfast recipe? 

Oh girl. My current breakfast is almost embarrassing haha! Back to my green smoothie addiction. Every morning I have coffee w/ almond milk + a green smoothie! Either I make the smoothie or have the Green Goodness smoothie from whole foods! Kale, Spinach, Apple juice, banana, lemon, ginger, and I always add spirulina.

That sounds absolutely amazing. What about lunch or dinner? 

I’m on a vegan challenge right now, so for dinner it would be a large bowl of roasted veggie w/ oil free balsamic dressing + a side of rice! BUT if we are talking pre-plant based life, I’m very simple. I cook chicken in my George Foreman, brown rice, and a green veggie!

Let’s talk Year of You. What’s that all about?

Year of You is my baby. YOY is a self project where I’m focusing on myself. I’m a giver naturally, and after my last relationship, I realized how much of myself I had given away and didn’t know who I was anymore. I was living in LA surrounded by not the best people, a toxic boyfriend, and was in a SHITTY place. In the new year, I pumped myself full of everything self love and self help and focused my energy into just that- myself. I dove back into my spiritual side and just made all my choices based on my own opinions and my own wants. YOY is about finding yourself, loving yourself, and just being the truest and highest version of yourself. I want to teach people that self love isn’t selfish, being the best version of you isn’t selfish, and that you are the only you there is.

Regarding how much its taken off I couldn’t be happier. I’ve turned my channel into a hub where I want people to come and feel empowered. I want people to go to my IG page and feel a spark in their soul. The amount of people tweeting me or tagging me in these photos of taking over their own lives just makes my heart sing. #YearofYou

How do you stay balanced with your busy lifestyle? 

The key to a balanced life is my planner, the app “Things,” meditating every morning, crystals, and caffeine. 

You love to travel {me too, girlfriend!}. How do you make healthy choices while jet-setting?

I think the trick to staying healthy while traveling is again to MOVE! I always try and walk everywhere, explore where you are, and really just move your booty! You don’t have to go to the gym once. My boyfriend and I just got back from Bali and every morning we had a beach swim and every night we went on a walk. ALSO just be conscious! Another thing my boyfriend and I do is if we want to order something on the more “dense”, “unhealthy” side we share it. We constantly are sharing food. We don’t need those huge plates hahah! I always order something with veggies and skip alcohol 99% of the time.

Meditate with crystals, journal, have coffee, make a to do list

My fav guilty pleasure is:

Qdoba’s queso. I follow a mainly plant based diet 80% of the time but boy do i love some queso. 

If I had to describe myself in 3 words, they’d be:

Warm, light worker, strong
