Organizing Under the Bathroom Sink

I mentioned in my Autumn To Do List post that I plan to clean and organize our hall closet, under the kitchen sink, and our guest bedroom/office. I probably should have just put “organize and clean entire apartment” on the list. This stemmed from the day when I went to grab cleaning supplies from under my kitchen sink and everything fell out. Isn’t that the worst?! Our apartment needs organization fast!

Welcome to the first post in my organization series: Organizing Under the Bathroom Sink.

Organize under the bathroom sink

Step 1: Take a photo of your messy space!

Step 2: Assess the situation. I like to figure out what I have and what I need to organize before I head to the store for new items. Sometimes I’ll pull bins or buckets from other spaces in the house instead of buying new ones.

Step 3: Go shopping. For this project, the only item I newly purchased was the white 3-Drawer Organizer from Sterilite. I knew I had a lot of smaller items (i.e. tampons, travel sized toiletries, extra toothpaste tubes, etc.); therefore, I picked up the medium sized organizer. Sterilite sells various size drawers, so pick something that works with the items you’re trying to organize.

Step 4: Pull everything out.

Step 5: Clean the surface under the sink and each individual object.

Step 5: Make three piles – keep, toss, donate.

Step 6: Group “keep” items into categories.

Step 7: Decide where you want to place your “keep” items.

Step 8: Put everything back. The only thing that I still have to do is purchase a label maker so I can label my drawers. I’m dying to get this one from Brother. It’s currently 50% off!

Step 9: Take an after photo!

Under your sink looks awesome now! We just moved into our new home and the owners before us already had these drawers screwed under the sink. I hated them at first but they are actually coming in handy for organizing.

that’s fantastic. i wish my cabinets came with drawers already there!
